Cohort
Follow Up
Participants have been followed-up after 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20 years. In those years, a follow-up questionnaire is sent to each study participant to obtain information on the occurrence of disease events. Self-reported events are validated by standardized questionnaires sent to the study participant?s general practitioners.
Supplementary Information
Deaths, cardiovascular events, type 2 diabetes and cancers are followed up to year 8 (round 4) in the harmonized MORGAM data, see the detailed information on follow-up procedures in the MORGAM e-publication.

Data Biosamples
Investigators from the public sector
Investigators from the private sector
Investigators from not-for-profit organization

Use is restricted to the research area "Risk factors of chronic diseases" and needs to be non-profit.

Transfer

Data Biosamples
Can leave the study facility
Can leave the country

Data/biosample transfer is straightforward to the European Union countries but for other countries a specific data protection inquiry needs to be placed at the DKFZ's data protection board, which can be time consuming. Data/biosamples can be sent to the scientist's institution after signature of a Data Transfer Agreement.

Description of the access procedures

Access to the local data and biosamples is approved on a case-by-case basis. For more information about local data request please contact the study representative.

For access to the harmonized MORGAM data from many MORGAM Centres, one should seek a collaboration with any of the Centre which can submit a publication proposal to the MORGAM/BiomarCaRE Steering Group.
