The aim of Warsaw MONICA Study was to measure trends in cardiovascular disease mortality and morbidity and to assess the extent to which these trends are related to changes in risk factor levels and in medical care.
In addition to a general description of Warsaw MONICA Study, here are described the variables which have been harmonized to the [MORGAM Study](https://mica.eucanshare.bsc.es/study/morgam). The study is identified by Centre number 36 (Warsaw) and name POL-WAR in MORGAM data.
The baseline examinations of the Warsaw MONICA Study were carried out as part of the WHO MONICA Project.

- Polish Universal Electronic Population Register (PESEL) was used to find out vital status and date of death or emigration, and Central Death Register contains the cause of death. Non-fatal event were followed up using the MONICA Coronary and Stroke Registers.

For access to the harmonized MORGAM data from many MORGAM Centres, one should seek a collaboration with any of the Centre which can submit a publication proposal to the MORGAM/BiomarCaRE Steering Group.
